Fred Dennis Gilbert, 70, of High Shoals, where he was born and raised, passed away August 23, 2017 at his residence.
He was born October 6, 1946, son of the late, Fred Daniel Gilbert and Frances Elizabeth Brock Gilbert.
Fred was a member of First Baptist Church in High Shoals and very active in his community.
Left to cherish his memories are his son, Brandon Gilbert; step-daughter, Tammy Howell; soulmate, Virginia Johnston; grandchildren, Mercedes Gilbert, Jacob Gilbert, Kayleigh Lingerfelt and Lynndie Dellinger and 2 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Gilbert and a sister.
A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Doug McClane, will be held 3 p.m. Monday, August 28, 2017 at First Baptist Church, 600 Lincoln Street, High Shoals.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
