Cherryville
Franklin Delano Harris Sr.,77, of Cherryville, NC, passed away on September 25, 2018, at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia.
He was born April 4, 1941, in Buncombe County, son of the late Jessie and Lillie Harris.
Mr. Harris was of Baptist faith.
He drove a tour bus for Cross Country Trailways for many years.
A funeral service will be held 3:00pm Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Faith Baptist Church, 2738 S. Post Rd. Shelby, officiated by the Rev. Johnny Owens and the Rev. Charles Hyatt.
The family will receive friends 1:00-2:45pm prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be at Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Harris is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Joyce McHone Harris; sons, Franklin D. Harris Jr. (Anita), Frankie Martin; daughters, Angela Martin, Frances Lay (Wayne); sister, Alice Fulp; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Virginia, Irene, Myrtle, Helen, Bonnie, Louise.
Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
