Frank Junior Shuford

Frank Junior Shuford, 88, a native of Bessemer City, passed away February 17, 2018 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia.

Frank was born September 28, 1929, son of the late William Frank Shuford and Mary Effie Guffey.

Frank was a member of 1st United Methodist Church, Bessemer City. He is a veteran of the US Army, and he served in WWII and the Korean War. He earned his Master of Mechanic I and II from NC State Tech. college and Bachelor of Theology. He served in the prison ministry for 14 years and as a Sunday school teacher.

Left to cherish his memories is his wife, Rachel Heafner Shuford for over 64 years; son, Eric Shuford and Wife Melissa; daughters, Cynthia Clark, Angela and Husband Dr. Joseph Lockavitch, Lisa and Husband Bill Sedergren; brother, Bill Shuford; 12 Grandchildren; 9 Great-Grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son in-law, Buzz Capps; and his 3 sisters; and 3 brothers.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 1st United Methodist Church of Bessemer City, 110 W. Alabama Ave., Bessemer City, 28016, officiated by Pastor Tripp Hord.

Visitation will be at the church, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, February 22, 2018.

Interment will be at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery, in Bessemer City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the 1st united Methodist Church c/o Prison Ministry, P.O Box 95, Bessemer City, NC 28016.
