Frances Chapman

Gastonia, NC - Frances Chapman, 90, of Gastonia, passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 at her residence. She was born July 11, 1924, in Catawba County, NC. Mrs. Chapman was a member of Chapel Grove Church of God and was retired from Parkdale Mills in Gastonia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Margaret Underwood; husband, Douglas Chapman; brother, Billy Huitt; and sisters, Sarah "Peg" Cole and Phyllis Larimore. Frances is survived by her daughter, Sharon Scobey and husband James of Gastonia; brother, John Huitt of Newton; sisters, Olmeito Stewart of Newton and Maxine Foster of Gastonia; grandchildren, Georgeann Grant and husband Lloyd, Shannon Santiley and husband Jim; great-grandchildren, Danielle Ward and husband Ethan, Amber Grant and fiancé Damien Rogers, Billy Caldwell, and Brandon Grant; great-great-grandchildren, Nicholas Grant and Alexis Faith Ward. A funeral service, officiated by Dr. Pastor Gene Ware and Pastor Bart Stone, will be held 11am Wednesday, August 6 at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 South York Rd., Gastonia. The family will receive friends from 6pm till 8pm on Tuesday, August 5, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park.
