Frances Bowen

Frances Murray Bowen, 85, of Bessemer City, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018 at her residence.
She was born May 12, 1933, in Gaston County, daughter of the late William Kay Murray and Florence Sellers Elmore.
Frances was a co-owner of the Bessemer City Machine Shop. She loved her family, loved the Lord and taught Sunday School for many years, as well as many Christmas programs. She enjoyed her flowers and birds.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Bowen and sister, Margie Murray.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, Steve Bowen and Cindy; daughters, Vickie Carpenter and Tommy; Susan Scism and Don, Connie White and James, Janet Bowen and Jim; brother, Johnny Murray and Betty; sisters, Lillie Costner and Jack, Janie Black, Carolyn Wilson and Glen; grandchildren, Becky Slocum, Bryan Bowen, Robbie Bowen, Greg Carpenter, Lori Carpenter, Gary Scism, Brent Scism, Jennifer Farnsworth, Jeffery Boyles, Melissa Carver, Matthew Bowen; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.
Family will receive friends at 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2018 at the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 216 Archie-Whitesides Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.
A funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. officiated by grandson, Greg Carpenter and Pastor Fain Farmer, on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at the funeral home.
