Floyd Richard Haas Sr.

Floyd Richard Haas Sr. 79, of Gastonia, passed away July 11, 2014, at his home. He was born June 1, 1935, in Gaston County, son of the late Jesse E. Haas and Jessie Mae Baird Haas. Mr. Floyd was a loving and caring father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a member at Lowell Church of God and was a part of the Nursing Home Ministry for over 20 years, and in the past served as a church council member, Sunday school superintendent, and usher. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by wife of 53 years, Barbara Haas; daughter, Cheryl Haas; son, Rodney Wayne Haas, and all of his brothers and sisters. He is survived by son, Floyd Rick Haas, Jr. (Kathy); daughters, Debby Purkey, Karen Rhyne (Johnny); grandchildren, Michael Ledford, Kim Travis (Keith), Eddie Martin (Cheryl), Eric Waters and nine great-grandchildren. A home going service will be held 1pm on Monday at Lowell Church of God, 804 W. First Street, Lowell, NC 28098, officiated by Rev. Joe Heffner. The family will receive friends 12:00-12:45pm before the service. Interment will be held at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia. Memorials may be made to Lowell Church of God Building Fund, PO Box 802 Lowell, NC 28098. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
