Floyd D. Barnett, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on April 24, 1946, in York, South Carolina. Floyd was known for both his strong work ethic, spending 53 years as a Volkmann Technician in the cotton textiles industry, and his warm-hearted spirit that touched the lives of many.
Floyd lived a life rich in love, surrounded by family and friends. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Brenda Barnett, and his two cherished daughters, Vickie Cook and Dawn Lackey; step-daughter, Leigh Ann Nycum (Robin); step-son, Marty McDaniel. Floyd also had a special place in his heart for his sisters, Linda Hodge, Mildred Barnett, and Debbie Perkins, who will carry on his legacy of love and laughter. He was a proud grandfather to Cole Nycum, Luke Nycum, Shauna Nycum, Gavin McDaniel, and Logan McDaniel and four great-grandchildren, who will always remember him as the joyful soul who lit up their lives. Floyd also leaves behind his beloved fur baby, Brodie.
Floyd's determination and hard work saw him through a fulfilling career, and his ability to connect with people made him a friend to all.
Join us in celebrating the life of Floyd "Pudgy" Barnett with a gathering of family and friends, which will be held at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service on Tuesday, December 2, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and share stories about the man who meant so much to so many.
Floyd will be missed dearly, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Rest easy Floyd, your love and laughter will never be forgotten.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Eunice Barnett; sister, Mable Stephens; brother, Danny Barnett.
