Firest Wayne Dennis

Firest Wayne Dennis, 83, of Gastonia, NC, passed away Monday, March 14, 2022, at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia.

He was born November 8, 1938, in Cagle Mountain, TN, son of the late James Dennis and Edith Payne Dennis.

He worked for Burlington in Ranlo, NC as a trainer for new hires. He then worked for Milbank in Kokomo, Indiana as skilled maintenance trade for 33 years. Firest also loved singing with his wife Joyce. They were professional singers known as Midnite Starz.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Homie Dennis, and Ricky Buchanan; sister, Arvella Nichols.

Firest is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Greene Dennis; children, Firest Dennis Jr., Cheryl Hughes (Scotty), Loretta Carrigan (Roy), Barry Farrar (Jona), and Gwendolyn Gooch (Mark); brothers, Willis Dennis, Ronnie Dennis (Patty), and Billy Buchanan; grandchildren, Halei Feltman, Chris McConnell, Travis Carrigan, Joe Farrar, Jessica Guest, Jake Farrar, Alexa Gooch, Cassandra Gooch, Derek Gooch, Darian Dennis, and Kendal Webb; and great-grandchildren, Violet, Preston, David, and Jack.

A memorial service officiated by Pastor David MacEachern, will be held 2pm on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
