Faye Burleson Jones

Faye Burleson Jones, 81, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 15, 2022, following complications from a stroke.  She resided at home with her friend, Ruth Brown.  Faye was born in Bakersville, NC, to the late Tarp Williams Burleson, Sr. and Hazel Ledford Burleson Monday.  Her family moved to Gastonia, where she met the love of her life, Walter Thomas Jones, Sr., who preceded her in death in 2011.  They were married for 53 years.

Faye graduated from Frank L. Ashley High School.  She had the heart of an educator, serving as a Girl Scout Leader and working at Chapel Grove Elementary School for 30 years as a substitute and teacher assistant.  She was a member of West Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, participating in music and mission programs and teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Children's Church while her health would allow.  Faye loved the Lord, her family, her church family, her friends, and her neighbors.  She enjoyed fishing, good southern cooking, picnics, board games, reading, dinner theaters, trips to the beach and mountains, and game shows.

Faye's loving memory will live on in the hearts of her family. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Gleason and husband, Ronnie, of Greensboro; her son, Tommy Jones and wife, Christy, of Gastonia; grandchildren, Matthew Gleason (Morgan), Hannah Rhyne (Dalton), Isaac Jones (Mikaela), and Ethan Jones; great-grandchildren, Ezra, Judah, and Sadie; sisters, Jean Richard and husband, Rick, and Sue Palmer and husband, Jim; brother, Tarp Burleson and wife, Betty; and sister-in-law, Ann Burleson. She is preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Burleson.

Funeral service will be held at West Franklin Avenue Baptist Church – 450 S. Myrtle School Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052, on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 1pm. The service will be officiated by Faye's Pastor, Jeff Williams. Due to health concerns, no visitation will be held.
