Fannie Robinson Compton, 99, of Belmont passed away April 15, 2017 at Gastonia Care and Rehabilitation.
She was born August 2, 1917, a native of Gaston County, the daughter of the late Mary Francis and Isaac Paul Robinson.
She was a long-time member of Centerview Baptist Church in North Belmont, where she worked with many activities in the church. Fannie also attended Victory Baptist in Gastonia with her family for many years. She retired after many years of textiles in Belmont and North Belmont. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who loved the Lord and her church families and will be dearly missed.
She is preceded in death by a son, James Compton, four brothers; two sisters and three great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters Retia Robinson of Gastonia, Paula Strickland of Belmont; grandchildren Terrie and Garner Gunn, Lila and Warren Hall, Bobby, Billy and Chris Robinson, Barbara and Andy Hope, Rick and Randy Strickland, Debbie and John Alexander, Angela Strickland Pack; 12 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the staff at Gastonia Care and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care and affection for our precious mother and grandmother.
A funeral service, with Rick Strickland and the Revs. Ed Walker and Sam Mintz officiating will be held 1 pm Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Rick Strickland Ministries, Centerview Baptist, Victory Baptist or Love Memorial Baptist.
Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
