Ezra Thomas Thompson, 77, of Gastonia, passed away November 20, 2018 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 23, 1941 in Georgia, the son of Charlie C. Thompson and Willie Mae Palmer Thompson.
Ezra was a member of Davis Memorial Baptist Church. He was employed as a mechanic for Wellmans in Gastonia.
He is survived by his son, Wayne Thompson of Gastonia; step-daughters, Sheila Costner, Joyce Lail, and Robin Hargett; brother, Steve Thompson; sisters, Edna Wilson, Linda Manning, Jennie Hibberts, Loretta Dover; grandchildren, Todd Barr, Jessica Barr and Jonathan Caulder; step-grandchildren, Lori Leonheart, Debbie Taylor, Dawn Brown, Chris Erwin, Jeff Welch, Tim Lail, Ron Costner, Tammy Edwards, Steve Summitt; and great-grandchild, Kayden Barr.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Vernice Thompson; daughter, Hope Thompson and step-son, Roger Welch.
The family will receive friends 1 – 2 pm Friday, November 23, 2018 at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia.
The service will follow at 2 pm at the funeral home, officiated by the Revs. Robert McAlister and Jeff Larry Taylor.
Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
