Evelyn M. Yarborough

Evelyn M. Yarborough, 90, of Gastonia passed away December 21, 2012 at Carolina Care, Cherryville. She was born August 18, 1922 in Polk County, daughter of the late Edward and Clara Henderson McGuinn. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday at South Marietta Baptist Church, Gastonia, officiated by Rev. Fred High. The family will receive friends from 1:00- 2:00 pm Sunday at the church. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia. Mrs. Yarborough was a member of South Marietta Baptist Church and had been a member of the choir. She worked to provide meals for the Homeless and Clothing Ministry and loved to visit the sick and shut-ins. She was a faithful volunteer for Vacation Bible School. She is survived by: her son, Danny Yarborough and spouse Gail of Gastonia; daughter, Diane Yarborough Walls and spouse A.C. of Stanley; sisters, Pearl Robbins and spouse Bill of Forest City; grandchildren, Terry and Timothy Walls, Chris Yarborough, Lisa Nolen; 5 great grandchildren. In addition to parents, she is preceded in death by: her husband, Clement Patrick Yarborough; brother, Hurbert McGuinn.
