Evelyn Ruppe

Evelyn Campbell Ruppe, 74, of Gastonia, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014 at her residence. Born and raised in Hickory Grove, SC, she was born October 25, 1939 daughter of the late George Franklin Harris and Mary "Leona" Ramsey Harris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Sarah, Mary, Peggy, and Becky; brothers, Bill, Buddy, Leroy, and Wayne Harris; granddaughter, Tara Leighann Campbell; and great-grandson, Kyler Youngblood. Mrs. Ruppe is a former textile worker. She also drove for EE Baker with Yellow Cab and drove for Central Cab of Bessemer City. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Gastonia. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Evelyn is survived by her husband, Rufus L. Campbell Sr. of Gastonia, children and spouses, Rufus Campbell Jr. and Lynn Hampton; Curtis Campbell and Jance; Claudia Campbell; Janice Harris and George; Joy Martin and Robert; and Renee Campbell; sisters, Irene Parker, Eva Dellinger, and Beulah Campbell; grandchildren, Misty Campbell, Jerry and Dannielle Justice, Samantha and Matthew Cavender, Ladonna and Micheal Wilson, Travis Bayne, David, Curtis, and Mark Campbell, Eric and CJ Youngblood, Gary and Roger Hampton, Marie Braswell, Rose, Amanda, and William Harris, Mendy Payne, and Steve Fore; great-grandchildren, Tara and Siri Crawford, Kaytelin and Ethan Justice, Troy and Connor Wilson, Jayce and Danni Lynn Campbell, James and Miracle Pucket, Mara and Kason Youngblood, Amber Berryhill, Nick Garver, Dale, Tori, and Aiden Harris, Christopher and Taylor Fore, Rocky Cavender, and Annie and Sully Martin. The family would like to thank Marybeth Hill, Trish, and all of the nurses at hospice as well as her loved ones at Apple Tree Apartments for their kindness to Mrs. Ruppe and the family. A funeral service, officiated by Rufus Campbell Jr. and Rev. James Chambers, will be held 2 pm Wednesday, May 14 at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, May 13 from 7 until 9 pm and after the service at 5924 Crawford Rd, Gastonia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Lincoln County, 900 Dontia Dr., Lincolnton, NC 28092. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
