Evelyn Parrott Arrowood, 81 of Gastonia, passed away August 8, 2014, after a brief battle with cancer, at the Robin Johnson House, Dallas. She was born March 18, 1933 in Gaston County, daughter of the late Wilburn Parrot and Ethel Blanton Parrot. Evelyn was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she displayed her love of music by participating in the Hand Bell Choir. In previous years, she served as a pianist and organist at several area churches. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude for the loving and compassionate care provided by all the staff at the Robin Johnson House. She is survived by her beloved dog, Muffie; daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Allen Kendrick of Kentucky, Donna Arrowood of Gastonia, Martha and Russ Pelc of Dallas, Beth and Richard Archer of Gastonia; brothers and sister-in-law, Don and Judy Parrot of Georgia, Doug Parrot of Dallas; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband of 56 years, Steve L. Arrowood and son, Steve Lewis Arrowood, Jr. A funeral Service will be held 2 pm on Tuesday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church 805 S. York Street, Gastonia, NC, officiated by Pastor Kitty Rankin. The family will receive friends 1:00-1:45 pm prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contribution may be made to Gaston Hospice-Robin Johnson House, PO Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
