Esther Ruth Sosebee
1930-2017
Gastonia - Esther Ruth Barber Sosebee, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Alexandria Place in the presence of her entire family, except for her sister who was sick.
She was a native of Clover, SC, born January 12, 1930 to the late Jacob Earl and Lula Cordellia Barber.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, Myrtle Badger of Gastonia; half-sister Vanessa Martin of Claremont; half-brother, Carlton Barber of Apex; son, Monty and wife Kathy of Gastonia; daughters, Mitzi Josey and husband Mike of Hickory, Marsha Parnell and husband Leslie of Gastonia, 5 grandchildren Monica Gibson (Rob), Shawn Josey (Leigh), Heather Osborne, Angela Payne (Mike) and Allison Harvell (Duane) and 6 great-grandchildren, plus sister-n-law, Becky Cash and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Anna Queen Barber, loving husband of almost 66 years, Bobby Ray Sosebee, sister, Faye Houck, brother, Aron Barber and half-brother, Perry Barber; half-sister, Rosetta Sibley and half-brother Bobby Joe Smith.
She worked at Parkdale Mills and retired from Homelite after 26 years of service.
Esther was a long-time member of the West Second Pentecostal Church, Yorkwood Church of God and most recently Riverwood Worship Center. She dearly loved God and her family and will be missed by them and many others, including the staff and residents at Abingdon Assisted Living Center and at her most recent home, Alexandria Place. The family wish to thank the staff at both these facilities for their loving care shown to Esther over the years.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 from 10:00 – 11:00 am at Lowell Church of God, 804 West First Street, Lowell, NC with a Celebration of Life to follow. The Reverend Joe Heffner will preside.
Interment will follow at Westview Gardens in Bessemer City. Pallbearers will be Shawn Josey, Mike Payne, Rob Gibson, Duane Harvell, Tim Harvell, Larry Bragg and honorary pallbearer, Jake Fowler.
