Ernest Joe Rhinehart, Sr.

Ernest Joe Rhinehart, Sr 76, of Belmont, NC, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at home.

He was the son of the late Claude Rhinehart and Lula Rhinehart.

He was preceded in death by 10 brothers; 4 sisters; and a son, Frank Moffett.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years Linda McDonald Rhinehart; 1 brother, Robert Rhinehart (Judy) of San Jose, Ca; and 1 sister, Maudie Rhinehart of Iron Station, NC. He is also survived by 1 son, Joe Rhinehart of Cramerton; 1 daughter, Melinda Gibson of Dallas; and 1 son, Jeremy Moffett of Belmont; 2 grandsons, Curtis Gibson (Toni), and RJ Gibson, both of Dallas; and 2 great grandchildren, Brandon Ray, and Austin Gibson.

Joe was owner/operator of Round and Round Scrap Tire, where he employed his faithful employee David Brazzill. He was also retired from Sodyeco/Sandoz/Clariant Corporation (Mt. Holly East Plant) where he was a Production Foreman for 40 years. He was an avid antique auto enthusiast who enjoyed car shows, car clubs, junk yard tours and parades.  He was a member of Hornets Nest Region AACA, and was just awarded his 30 year service award.  He was a proud member of the Goblers Club where he got to meet, dine, and enjoy fellowship monthly with his car club friends.  He also enjoyed going to breakfast at Hardee's (Belmont) each morning with the faithful breakfast club.

A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Billy Wooten, will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, January 14, 2022, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 1503 S. York Rd, Gastonia, NC, 28052.

The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
