Rev. Ernest Ray Parker Sr., 64, of 403 Rhyne Circle, Ranlo passed away November 18, 2012 at his home. He was born February 2, 1948 in Gaston County son of the late Rev. Vance Parker and Alma Johnson Parker. Ernest was a Man of God who served the Lord gladly and was a member of Redeemed Free Will Baptist Church, Mt. Holly. He loved to go fishing and hunting with his family and friends. He loved the outdoors and he had a "green thumb" when it came to growing plants and flowers. Mr. Parker was a supervisor for AW Bohannan for 28 years. A service to celebrate the life of Rev. Parker will be held 3:00 pm on Wednesday at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd., Gastonia officiated by the Rev.Billy Ray Wooten, the Rev. James Drennan and the Rev. Charles Curtis. The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home and at other times at the home. Interment will be at Westview Gardens, Bessemer City. Rev. Parker is survived by : his loving wife of 46 years Linda Drennan Parker of the home; son , Ernest Ray Parker Jr. and wife Wendy Strader Parker of Dallas, Timothy Scott Parker and wife Lorie Hartness Parker of Gastonia; daughter, Teresa Parker Ollis and husband Rusty of Kings Mountain; grandchildren, Erica Eaves and husband Kenneth Eaves Jr., Eric Thompson Jr. and wife Patricia, Justin, Allison, Lauren and Tad Parker and Levi Ollis;great grandchildren, Destiney and Aliyah Eaves, Ashton Thompson; special family members Dale Ferguson, Trudy Vaughn,Donna Hester and Norman Buckner. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: brother, Leo Parker; sisters, Haladine Ewing and Ruth Goins. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Linda Parker, 403 Rhyne Circle, Ranlo, NC 28054.
