Ernest Lee Herron

Ernest "Ernie" Lee Herron, 83, of Gastonia, NC, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia.

He was born July 20, 1938, in Madison Co, Al, son of the late Roosevelt Herron and Julia Herron.

Ernie retired from Arlington Mill, Gastonia. He was known as Santa, he always dressed up for the children for several years.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Sallie Noblett Herron; son, Ernest Thomas Herron; and sister, Marie.

Ernie is survived by his children, Crystal Herron Keith (Jerry), and James Horace Herron (Pamela); 4 stepchildren, Rhonda Davenport, Annette Massey, Anna Price, and Billie Jo Massey; brother, James Herron; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm on Monday, August 16, 2021, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
