Emma Grace Truett

Emma Grace Freeman Truett, a beloved wife, mother, and cherished friend, was born on August 17, 1940, in Cameron, North Carolina. She departed this life peacefully on her 86th birthday, August 17, 2026, at Lincolnton Rehabilitation Center.

Emma was the proud owner and operator of Dee's Clothing in Dallas, where she dedicated many years to serving her community. Her passion for the clothing business was matched only by her love for cooking and canning, which brought warmth and joy to the hearts of those fortunate enough to gather around her table. Emma had a unique gift for entertaining, filling her home with laughter, love, and the delightful aroma of her favorite dishes. She cherished the moments spent with her family and friends, and her door was always open to those she loved.

Emma is survived by her devoted husband, Johnny Truett Sr., of Bessemer City; son, Johnny Truett Jr., and wife Melanie of New Bern; granddaughter, Anyssa Powell of San Marcos, Texas; sisters, Marcia Truett of Bessemer City, Cindy Truett of Gastonia, Barbara Newton of Fayetteville, Vera Marks of Fayetteville; brother, Mitchell Freeman; nephews, Grady Truett Jr., Gary Truett of Bessemer City, Windell Truett of Gastonia; niece, Wanda Summit of Fayetteville.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Lena Freeman; brothers, Robert Landon Freeman, Johnny Freeman, Charles Freeman.

All services will be private.

Emma will be dearly missed, but her legacy of love and connection will forever remain in the hearts of those who gathered around her, shared her joys, and were embraced by her warmth. Her spirit will continue to live on in the memories of all who were touched by her kindness, her infectious laughter, and her unwavering love.
