Emily (Granny) Floyd Summitt

Emily "Granny" Floyd Summitt, 92, of Bessemer City, NC, passed away at her home on Sunday, November 13, 2022.

She was born June 4, 1930, in Cherokee County, NC to the late Charlie and Dora Clark Floyd.

Emily was a member of Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church in Dallas, NC.

In addition to her parents, Emily was preceded in death by four brothers, Gilbert Floyd, Lester Floyd, Sheridan Floyd, and Garfield Clark; and two sisters, Florence Walker, and Ora Mae Totherow.

Emily is survived by three sons, Dale Summitt and wife Lynn, Gary Summitt and wife Ginny, and Charlie Summitt and wife Patti; two daughters, Carol Clark and husband Kenny, and Susie Summitt; 14 grandchildren, and 35 great-grandchildren.

A service to celebrate the life of Emily, officiated by Pastor Sherman Branch, will be held Friday, November 18, 2022, at 4:00 pm at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment will be held Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Bear Paw Missionary Baptist Church, 55 Bear Paw Church, Road, Murphy, NC 28906.
