Emerson "Doc" Bushnell Jr.

Emerson "Doc" Bushnell Jr., 86, of Stanley, passed away August 14, 2012, at Alexandria Place, Gastonia. He was born August 27, 1925 in Black Lick, Pennsylvania, son of the late Emerson Mars Bushnell Sr. and Winifred Gerard Bushnell. Mr. Bushnell was a member of Message of Love Church, Belmont. He served as an Usher for 25 years at First United Methodist Church, Cape Coral, FL. Emerson was a US Air Force WWII Veteran. A memorial service will be held 5 pm on Saturday at Message of Love Church, 306 Pearl Beatty Rd., Belmont, officiated by Pastor Jeff Johnson and Pastor Frankie Sneed. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. He is survived by: his wife Christine Miller Bushnell of the home; son and daughter in-law, David Emerson and Ann Bushnell of Tega Cay, SC; daughter, Cynthia Jane Bushnell of the home; granddaughter, Christina Bushnell Workman; great granddaughter, McKenzie Grace Workman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: a sister, Winifred Campbell. Memorials may be made to Message of Love Church, P. O. Box 406, Belmont, NC 28012.
