Elizabeth Ann Farris

Jul 11, 1962 — Sep 5, 2026

Elizabeth "Beth" Myers Farris, 64, of Dallas, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Beth is survived by her husband and the love of her life, William Douglas "Doug" Farris; her sisters, Bonnie Kay Warren and Kathy Ann Myers; her children, Richard Bradley, Leighanne Bradley (Jeffery), Tyler Farris, and Levi Farris; her adopted children, Jennifer Heavener (Ricky) and Diana Shattles (Josh); her son-in-love, Joe Newman; her grandchildren, Riley Fleming, Rylin Hollars, Kayden Newman, Landon Newman, Ryker Fleming, Paisley Rollings, and Malaki Newman; and her beloved furry companions, Cash and Willie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Billy Myers and Joann "Jo" Myers; her brother, Billy Miles Jr.; her daughter, Lauren Farris; her best friend, Debbie Mitchell; and her beloved puppy companions, Sadie, Goose, Stitch, and Bo.

The best way to describe Beth is simple: she was a character. She was the person you could call when you needed someone in your corner, but she was also the person who would call you out when you needed to hear it. She never pretended to be anyone other than exactly who she was. In her own words: "I'm your off-the-wall Granny that is mean as hell sometimes, cusses like a sailor, but that's just who I am. I've learned over the years that in order to be happy, I have to be who God intended for me to be." And that is what made Beth, Beth. She had a fiery spirit, a sharp tongue, a generous heart, and a wisdom that came from living life on her own terms. She could make you laugh, tell you exactly what you needed to hear, and make you feel like family all at the same time. Beth accomplished many things throughout her life, but one of the accomplishments she was most proud of was traveling out west to make memories with her grandchildren. Although many people knew her as Beth, her most treasured title was Granny. Every one of her grandchildren called her Granny, and she loved every second of it.

Her family was a huge part of her heart, and some of her happiest memories were made in the kitchen. She loved to cook just as much as she loved to eat, and she especially enjoyed feeding the people she loved. Some of her favorite traditions were making Christmas cookies with the grandkids and teaching her granddaughter how to cook Thanksgiving dinner. Those memories will live on long after the last recipe is made. She loved to eat, but what she loved most was sharing those meals with Doug, the love of her life. Their favorite pastime was exploring local Mexican restaurants together, always on the hunt for their next favorite. Beth also spent many years as a manager at Dollar General, where she loved meeting people and made countless friends. She had a way of making connections wherever she went. To so many people, she became more than a manager or a familiar face, she was a motherly or grandmotherly figure. Her fiery but kind spirit, her honesty, her humor, and her wisdom left a lasting mark on countless lives. Before her passing, Beth left her loved ones with many words of wisdom, but there is one message her family wants to share with the world: "I have never regretted the things I've done, only the things I didn't do."

So, in Beth's honor, find your spunk. Live your life. Take the trip. Eat the good food. Love your people loudly. Do the things that scare you. And don't skip the hard stuff, because you'll miss the good stuff. As we say goodbye, we hold close the words of 2 Timothy 4:7: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

Though our hearts are broken by the loss of Beth, we find comfort in knowing that the people we love never truly leave us. They remain in the stories we tell, the traditions we carry on, the recipes we make, the lessons they taught us, and the pieces of themselves they left behind in each of us. "Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day."

Beth lived loudly, loved fiercely, spoke her mind, made memories, fed her people, laughed hard, cussed often, and left her mark wherever she went. She was one of a kind. She was deeply loved. And she will be missed beyond words.
