It is with both sadness and gratitude that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Ann Brown, age 89, who left us on December 10, 2025. Born on June 14, 1936, in Gaston County, North Carolina, Elizabeth, affectionately known as Beth, touched the lives of many with her warm spirit and vibrant personality.
Beth was an avid member of Crowders Mountain Baptist Church, where she found her second family. She greatly enjoyed her involvement in the Women's Missionary Union (WMU) and cherished the fellowship with her church community. Beth had a gift for conversation and never met a stranger; she had the unique ability to light up any room with her presence.
Beth participated in a local bowling league, often bringing both friendly competition and laughter to the lanes. Those who knew her looked forward to her famous chocolate cakes, a delicious treat she was proud to share with family and friends. Beth had a flair for jewelry, often adorning herself with beautiful pieces that showcased her love for life and style.
Beth leaves behind her cherished sister, Kay Sparrow (Donnie); several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews, who she adored, as well as countless friends who will continue to celebrate the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
Beth was preceded in death by husband, James Brown; parents, Paul and Kathleen Hoffman; brother, Carl "Bob" Hoffman; sister, Sandra Grigg.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Crowders Mountain Baptist Church, where family and friends can gather to honor her life. Visitation will take place from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, with the service commencing at 3:00 PM. Beth will be laid to rest at Gaston Memorial Park, along side her husband.
In true Beth fashion, we invite everyone to share stories, laughter, and love as we celebrate a remarkable woman who taught us all the importance of community, family, and joy in every moment. Beth may be gone, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone she touched.
