Edmond Williams, Jr.

July 26, 1922 — April 23, 2021

Edmond "Bill" Williams, Jr., 98, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021, at his residence.

He was born on July 26, 1922, in Richards, TX, to the late Edmond Williams, Sr. and Lorene Cundiff.

Bill, a purple heart recipient, retired from the United States Air Force after 21 years, were he served proudly in WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of VFW Post – Absher Flowers. After the Air Force, Bill also retired from the US Postal Service as a mail carrier. He was a member of Chapel Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Williams; sisters, Rose Sherill, and Joyce Wortham; brother, David Williams; step-daughter, Peggy Pickelsimer; and step-grandson, Marshall Stroupe, III.

Left to cherish his memories are, step-son, Marshall Stroupe, Jr.; grandchildren, Debi Hughes, Lisa Herron, and Becky Brown; 12 great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service, with speaker Tim Herron, will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service- 1503 S York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.

The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.

Interment to follow the service at Gaston Memorial Park with full military honors by the US Air Force.

Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Inc.
