Edith Tipton Whidden

Edith Tipton Whidden, 89, of Bessemer City, passed away May 26, 2012, at White Oak Manor, Kings Mountain. She was born July 12, 1922, in Graham County, daughter of the late Noah and Mary Cole Tipton. She was a member of Bessemer City Community Church. A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm on Tuesday at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd. Gastonia, NC 28056, officiated by Pastors, Mike Criswell and David Ross. The family will receive friends 6:00 -8:00 pm on Monday at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, Gastonia. Interment will be at Bessemer City Cemetery. She is survived by: her son Nathan Whidden; daughter, Cynthia Riff and spouse Don; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 3 great- great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: her husband Reed Whidden. Memorials may be made to Bessemer City Community Church, 616 Athenia Place, Bessemer City, NC 28016.
