Edith Berine Waldroup
November 30, 1920 — January 1, 2018
Edith Berine Waldroup, 97, of Gastonia, passed away January 1, 2018 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.
She was born November 30, 1920 in Swain County, the daughter of the late Abraham "Abe" Phillips and Anabelle "Annie" Carpenter.
Edith loved gardening and reading her bible.
She is survived by Eugene Lee Waldroup, Charles Lewis Waldroup, Phyllis Ann Ramey, Brenda Kay Bailey, Carolyn Elaine McLemore, Tammy Yvonne Waldroup; sisters, Marie and Maybell Bridges; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Pearlie Waldroup; son Harold Edward Waldroup; daughter, Shirley Faye Erwin and 4 brothers.
A funeral service will be held 11 am Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Greene Funeral Service South Chapel 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Charles Curtis.
The family will receive friends 6 -8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
