Edith Bell Mincy, 81, of Gastonia, passed away July 5, 2014 at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia. She was born, July 22, 1932 in Cherokee County, daughter of the late Joe and Delia McMillian. She was a member of Change of Heart Baptist Church and retired from Homelite after 33 years of service. A special thank you to the staff of 6 south at Caromont Regional Medical Center. Edith is survived by: her husband of 38 years, Rev. Earl Mincy; sons, Douglas Drum, Ricky Drum and wife, Denise; daughters, Joann Penner and husband, Gene; step-daughter, Cheryl Gottwald and husband, Wayne, Brenda Pikul and Husband, Jim; step-daughter-in-law, Donna Mincy; sister, Rene Morris; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Homer McMillian; daughter, Diane Gardner; and step-son, Edward Mincy. A funeral service will be held 12 noon on Thursday at Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Gene Ware. Visitation will be held 6 - 8 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Gaston Memorial Park. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
