Edith "Edie" Bates

Edith "Edie" Bates, 75, of Kings Mountain, passed away on April 14, 2015 at the Robin Johnson Hospice House, Dallas. She was born December 2, 1939 in Gaston County, daughter of the late Marshall Brown and Elsie Bailey Brown. Mrs. Bates was a member of Soul Harbor Tabernacle, Mooresboro, NC. She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved going to the beach and spending time with her family. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Michael Case and staff at the Robin Johnson Hospice House for the wonderful care and loving support they provided for Mrs. Bates and her family. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday at Greene Funeral Service , West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd. Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Charles Poole. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Interment will be at Westview Gardens, Bessemer City. Mrs. Bates is survived by, daughters, Theresa Faile, Melody Robinson and husband Tim; sisters, Edna "Ande" Bowen, Nancy White; grandchildren, Timothy Hollis, Christopher Friday, Matthew Robinson; great- grandchild, Sophia Grace Robinson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by, her husband of over 55 years, Michael Lee Bates; brother, Sidney Richard Brown.
