Eddie Ray Mccarthy

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eddie Ray McCarthy on August 25, 2024, at the Robin Johnson House. He was born on August 16, 1936, in Gaston County, NC, and was a beloved member of the community.

Eddie was a man of simple pleasures; he cherished spending his days reading his favorite book, the Bible, and enjoying the company of his late wife as they traveled the country together. He was an esteemed member of Fairview Baptist Church, where he found solace and friendship.

Throughout his career, Eddie worked as the owner of McCarthy Rentals LLC, a profession he excelled in and enjoyed greatly. His dedication and hard work left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

He will be dearly missed by his surviving grandchildren, Jason McCarthy (Marcia), Amber Spencer (Byron); great grandchildren, Caris McCarthy, Conor McCarthy, and Koda Spencer; sister, Brenda Walls (Franklin); sisters-in-law, Beverly McDonald and Audrey Griggs; special niece, Sherry Stines.

Eddie was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Farmer McCarthy; parents, Jesse "Bob" and Edna McCarthy; children, Kelvin McCarthy, Gwendolyn Allen, and Kimberly McCarthy; sisters, Billie Barnes and Linda Gregory.

A gathering of friends and family will be held at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, Thursday, August 29, 2024, one hour prior to the service. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home starting at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, where he will peacefully reunite with his beloved wife.
