Eddie Arnold Lowe Sr, 76, passed away on August 15, 2024, in Bessemer City, NC. Born on April 16, 1948, in Mecklenburg County, NC, he dedicated much of his life to public service, both as a military and law enforcement officer.
Eddie honorably served in the Army as a Military Police (MP) during the Vietnam War, a role that underpinned his later career in law enforcement. After his military service, he joined the Gastonia City Police Department, eventually serving as the Chief of Police for Bessemer City PD from 1994 to 1999. His commitment to safety and community was evident throughout his career.
He was a proud alumni of Gaston College, which furthered his skills in criminal justice. Beyond his professional life, Eddie was a devout Jehovah's Witness, actively participating in his local congregation, and found joy in hobbies such as gardening, car rides, and cherishing family time.
Eddie is survived by his children, Shelia Ball (Steve) and Eddie Lowe Jr., along with his grandchildren, Madison, Jonathan, Ashleigh, and great-grandchildren, Austyn and Wesleigh. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Rylie, father, Charlie Lowe, brother, Tommy Lowe, and his wife, Barbara Lowe.
A memorial service to celebrate Eddie's life will be held, Friday, August 30, 2024 at 5:30 pm,at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service.
Arrangements are being handled by Greene Funeral Service South Chapel, 1503 S York Rd., Gastonia, NC, 28052. Eddie's life and legacy will be remembered by all who knew him as a steadfast protector, loving family man, and devout community member.
