Eddie "Ted" Atkins

Eddie "Ted" Junior Atkins, 82, of Dallas, passed away March 26, 2016 at his residence.

A Gaston County native, he was born August 28, 1933, son of the late Hoyt and Myrtle Atkins.

He was a US Marine Corps veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Anthony "Tony" Dewey Atkins; sisters, Lena Atkins Hartman and Mackie Atkins; and brothers, Bill Atkins and Don Atkins.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Betty Atkins of the home; sons, Steve Atkins, Eddie Jan Atkins, and Hoyt David Atkins; brother, Doug Atkins; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Chris Wilson, will be held at 11 am on Wednesday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia.

The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park.

Military honors will be provided by the US Marine Corps and the Gaston County Honor Guard.

Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
