Earl Mayes Bowen

Gastonia, NC Earl Mayes Bowen, 85, passed away April 3, 2013, at the Robin Johnson Hospice House, Dallas. He was born August 20, 1927 in Cobb County, GA, son of the late Abe and Ada Payne Bowen. Mr. Bowen was a member and former Deacon at Salem Baptist Church, Gastonia. He was a US Army Veteran and was retired from the Gastonia City Police Dept. after 30 years of service as a police officer. A funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m. noon on Saturday at Salem Baptist Church, Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Junior Morris. The family will receive friends 6-9 pm on Friday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park. Gastonia, with honors by the City of Gastonia Police Dept. He is survived by: son and daughter in-law, Frank M. and Kathy Bowen; daughters and son in-law, Angela B. Johnson, Cheryl B. and Curtis Martin; brother and sister in-law, Frank and Charlene Bowen; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: his wife, Reba H. Bowen; son, Audie Bowen; granddaughter, Jacqueline Hawes.
