It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dwain Devard Caldwell, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend. Dwain left us on November 12, 2025, at the age of 74, in Gastonia, North Carolina, where he was born on December 14, 1950.
Dwain spent many years working in the textile industry as a fixer, demonstrating his dedication and skill throughout his career. His passion for music was evident in his time as a drummer, guitarist, and singer for the Message of Love Church, where he shared his talent and joy with the community. He was also a valued member of Temple Baptist Church, where he created many lasting memories.
Dwain is preceded in death by his parents, James Preston Caldwell and Louise Rabon Caldwell, and his brother Terry Caldwell.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Lauren Hayes, who will forever cherish their time together. He is also survived by his son Kenny Best and wife Angela, daughters Donna Bartch (Curtis Melton), Kim Parker (Bobby), Stacy Ullman (John), and Tanya Alexander, as well as brothers Paul Caldwell and J.R. Caldwell. Dwain was proud of his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will no doubt carry on his legacy.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday , November 23, 2025 from 2:00-4:00 pm, at Temple Baptist Church in Gastonia, where Pastor Scott Whitener will officiate the service. This will be a time to come together, remember the incredible moments we shared with Dwain, and honor the love and laughter he brought into our lives.
