Dufaye Pearson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dufaye Pearson, a beloved father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He passed away peacefully on June 27, 2024, at his home in Gastonia, NC. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Dufaye was born on January 25, 1930, in North Carolina. He attended Bradley Church and was a former member of Oakland Memorial Baptist Church in Lowell, NC. After retiring from Petty Machine and Tool, he found joy in competing as a professional horseshoe pitcher with the N.C. Horseshoe Pitching Association, earning multiple championships over the years. He was also inducted into the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association Hall of Fame for North Carolina in 2009. His passion for square dancing led him to twirl with the Dixie Spinners and the Wagon Wheelers in Cleveland and Gaston County.

He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Gray (Jim) of Mt. A visitation will be held at Greene Funeral Service South Chapel on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 PM. The funeral service will take place at Greene Funeral Service South Chapel, 1503 S. York Street, Gastonia, NC, on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 10:00 AM. Following the service, burial will be held at Flint Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 2207 Flint Hill Church Rd, Shelby, NC 28152, at 12:15 pm.

Dufaye will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May his memory be a blessing, and may he rest in eternal peace.
