Doyle Paul Brock

July 4, 1926 — August 20, 2015

Doyle Paul Brock, 89, of Gastonia, passed away August 20, 2015, at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia. He was born July 4, 1926, in Banks Co. GA, son of the late Con and Mandyvine Maxwell Brock. Doyle was a WWII Navy veteran and was a "Jack of all Trades". He was a member of Westview Baptist Church. He retired from Schiele Museum in 1988, where he was the master builder behind all the 19th century buildings, including the gristmill and nature trail. He had a garden every year and canned vegetables, especially green beans. He gave away more than he kept. He loved helping people and rarely took a penny because that was who he was. Doyle's lifelong passion was hunting and fishing. A special thanks to the staff of Alexandria Place for their loving care of both he and Helen. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Helen Crook Brock; and grandchildren, Andy Brock and Jennifer Brock Fisher. Left to cherish his memories are his sons, Rev. Dean Brock (Freida), Tim Brock (Marilyn); daughter, Trudy Pope (Ronnie); sisters, Florence Payne, Emily Simmons, Eula Cheek; 6 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2pm on Monday at Westview Baptist Church, 3385 Fairview Dr. Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Dean Brock and Pastor Jerry Millwood. The family will receive friends, 6:30 - 8:30 pm on Sunday, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 South York Rd., Gastonia. Interment will be held at Gaston Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Westview Baptist Church. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
