Douglas E Welch

Douglas Eugene Welch, 71, of Gastonia passed away Tuesday, December 3rd, at his home. He was born July 10, 1942 in Polk Co., Ga to the late, Claude Eugene Welch and Mildred Bullard. Mr. Welch was a veteran in the US Army. He was a very loving husband, father, who was a very outgoing and a charming man. A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday at Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel officiated by Rev. Laura Auten. The family will receive friends prior to the service between the hours of 2:00 and 3:00pm. He is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Elizabeth Brogdon Welch of the home; son, Christopher Waldorf of Illinois; daughters, Stacia Benge of Collinsville, OK and husband Danny Benge, Sr. of Ranlo, Becky Bolen of Stanley, Diana Sheriff of Atlanta, Ga, Sarah Cobb of Stanley , Joellen Vickers of Dallas; sister, Dianne Vanover and husband, Willie of Gastonia, brothers, Claude Wesley Welch and wife, Debbie of Stanley, Kenneth Welch and wife, Leigh of Stockton, GA; several nieces and nephews; 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his nephew, Rocky Nicholson. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice or Toys for Tots. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
