Douglas "Booty" Bryson

Douglas "Booty" Bryson, 75, of Gastonia, passed away May 20, 2016 at his residence.

A Gaston County native, he was born May 28, 1940, son of the late William and Ruby Bryson.

Mr. Bryson was a U.S. Marine and a member of VFW Post 9337.

He was a good husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who enjoyed golfing and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Morris and Glenda Singleton; brother, Roy Lee Bryson; and close friends, Carl McAllister and Earl Myers.

Left to cherish his memories are wife, Barbara Tanner Bryson; daughter, Teresa "Teri" Edge; grandchild, Ashley Franckewitz; great-grandchild, Avery Franckewitz; brothers and sisters-in-law, Buck and Claudette Bryson, Gene Bryson, Larry and Carol Bryson; sister-in-law, Gloria Bryson; sisters and brother-in-law, Brenda and Jimmy Queen, Linda Neikirk; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service, officiated by Rev. David Belle Isle, will be held 2 pm Monday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd. Gastonia.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until 2 pm prior to the service.

Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park.

Funeral honors will be provided by the U.S. Marine Corps, the Gaston County Honor Guard, and the Gaston County Marine Corps League.
