Dot M. Wellman, 74, of Gastonia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on December 10, 2021, at White Oak Manor, Kings Mountain, NC.

She was born June 9, 1947, in Clay County, NC to the late John Paul and Laura Edra Powell Matheson.

Dot was truly the matriarch and foundation of her family.

In addition to her parents, Dot was preceded in death by her brothers, Glenn, David, George, and Harold Matheson.

She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Ran Wellman; daughters, Pam Spencer and husband, Scott and Misty Law and husband, Brian; a brother, Odell "Bug" Matheson; sisters, Christine "Tootsie" Fields, Carolyn Hall and husband Gerald, and Betty Jean Lackey; grandchildren, Brooke Spence and husband Tommy, Kaci Barrett and husband Mitchell, Bryson Law and Ashton Law; and great-grandchildren, Jessie Spence, Delilah Barrett, Kyser Wooten, and Evelyn Law.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, between 6:00 and 8:00 pm at the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 216 Archie Whitesides Road, Gastonia, NC 28052.

The funeral service and interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Levine Children's Hospital, 1000 Blythe Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203

Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service.
