Dorothy Merle Hudson

Dorothy "Dot" Gilbert Hudson, 79, of Gastonia passed away Wednesday October 5, 2016 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.

She was born August 7, 1937 in Gaston County, daughter of the late John Andrew Gilbert and Bertie Mae Gilbert.

Dot was a long time member of Ranlo Baptist Church, Ranlo. Current member of DayStar Baptist Church, Mt. Holly. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, nanny, sister, aunt and friend.

Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 63 years Billy Ray Hudson of the home; daughter, Penny Bradshaw and husband Rusty; grandchildren,  Jennifer Hill Weaver and husband Jeremiah, Jackie Hanif-Badger and husband Derek; great grandchildren, Bri, Dylan, Alyssa, Daylan, ICSA Hanif "Austyn", Chandler, Zack, Sami, Bradyn; sister, Johnnie Mae Morton; numerous " Bonus"  grandchildren and great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her great grandson, Prestyn Blake Hanif; brothers, William Vernon Horne,  Albert Leroy Horne and Charles Lyday Gilbert; niece, Sharon Ann Chandler; nephews, Leroy "Budgie" Morton, Rudy Gilbert and Scott Gilbert.

A funeral service officiated by Rev. Perry Huffstetler will be held 2 pm Sunday at Ranlo Baptist Church, 1517 Spencer Mountain Road, Gastonia, N.C. 28054

The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Friday, and Saturday at their home, 121 Duff Street, Gastonia, N.C. 28054.

Memorials may be sent to American Heart Association – 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060-9979.

Interment will be held at Hollywood Cemetery, Gastonia.
