Doris Harrison Lazenby, 87, of Bessemer City, passed away April 29, 2014 at Belaire Health Care Center, Gastonia She was born April 15, 1927 in Gaston County, daughter of the late William Edward Harrison and Nannie Sue Faries Harrison. Mrs. Lazenby was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Bessemer City. She was a graduate of Gastonia High School and Evans Business College. She graduated from Gaston Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and retired from Gaston Memorial Hospital after 19 years of service as an LPN. She enjoyed gardening and feeding her birds. She loved her family dearly. A special thank you to all the staff of Belaire Health Care Center for the care they gave. A celebration of Mrs. Lazenby's life will be held 3:00 pm on Saturday in the memorial garden of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 1303 North 12th St., Bessemer City, officiated by Father Ramon Aymerich. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Mrs. Lazenby is survived by: son and daughter in-law, David and Judy Lazenby ; daughter and son in-law, Susan and David Hook; brother and sister in-law, Ralph and Edna Harrison; sisters and brother in-law, Jane Carson, Nancy and Gregory Smith; grandchildren, Adam Hook and fiancée Brittany O'Malley, Alex Hook, John Lazenby and wife Lea McCoig, Jenny Lee and husband Mike, Beth Lee, Kristin Lazenby; five great grandchildren; her roomate, Bo Stacy. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: her husband, Weldon Truett Lazenby; sister, Grace Gregory. Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Gaston County P.O.
