With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Doris Ann Griffie, a loving daughter, devoted mother, cherished sister-in-law, and a faithful servant of the Lord. Doris was born on March 30, 1945, in Virginia and left this world peacefully on July 9, 2026, in Gastonia, North Carolina. She was 81 years old.
Doris exemplified the spirit of a homemaker, dedicating her life to nurturing her family and making her house a home. For 53 years, she stood by her husband, Pastor Ronnie Griffie, as a devoted Pastor's wife, embodying her love for the Lord and her cherished community. Her warm heart, gentle wisdom, and unwavering faith touched the lives of many at Davis Memorial Baptist Church in Gastonia, where she was an active member.
Preceded in death by her beloved parents, Bill and Gerri Nivens, her husband Ronnie, and her son John, Doris leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience. She is survived by her sons, James Griffie and Michael Griffie; her daughters, Jane White and Rhonda Harmon (Chris); and her sister-in-law Kandy Lowery; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Doris will be lovingly remembered by her fur babies, Big Bird and Sam, alongside her family and friends who adored her vibrant spirit and passion for the color purple.
A memorial service celebrating Doris's life will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 5 PM, at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, located at 1503 S York Road, Gastonia, NC. Pastor Gary Teague and Pastor Tony Phillips will lead the service, guiding family and friends to honor Doris's beautiful legacy. The urn bearer will be Christian Harmon. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, allowing loved ones to gather in remembrance.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Tunnels to Towers, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or Davis Memorial Baptist Church, to continue Doris's legacy of love and compassion for those in need. (Links Below)
