Doris Frasure Dixon

Doris Elizabeth Frasure Dixon, 91, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Terrace Ridge Assisted Living Center. Doris was born on April 17, 1929, in Richmond, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late John Andy and Beulah Ownbey Frasure.

She was married to Lester Henry (Buck) Dixon until his death in 2014.

Doris worked in textiles for many years at U. S. Rubber, Homelite, and retired from Parkdale Mills. Doris was very creative, she often made curtains and other items for her home or her daughters' homes, she crocheted afghans and gave them away to family, friends, and nursing,homes, she loved to sew, making clothing for herself and her children, and she was well known for her pound cakes. She was often asked to make cakes for the church when meals were provided for families that had lost loved ones.

Doris was a long time member of Olney Presbyterian Church and was a member of the John Calvin Sunday School class.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was pre-deceased by brothers John Dale, Donald Wilton, James Dwight, and Tommy Kay Frasure, and a sister, Deloris (Dee) Frasure Brown.

She is survived by daughters Deborah Kaye Dixon of Gastonia, NC and Leslie Dixon Bolin and her husband Dennis Gary Bolin of Kings Mountain, NC, grandsons Drew Bolin and his wife Soma Sarkar and Noah Bolin of Charlotte, NC, and granddaughter Courtney Bolin and her husband William Gabler of Washington, DC. She is also survived by brothers Eugene Frasure of Mount Holly, NC and Garmen (Dorothy) Frasure of Stanley, NC, and sisters Stella Frasure Fortner, Sue Frasure Holland, and Judy Frasure Long of Gastonia, NC and numerous nieces and nephews from both the Frasure and Dixon sides of the family.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of Terrace Ridge Assisted Living Center for the excellent and compassionate care provided to Doris over the past seven years. We especially appreciate the courage and dedication provided to Doris (and all the other residents) during the isolation of the pandemic when families could not visit. We also want to thank the outstanding staff of Gaston Hospice for the care and support provided to Doris and her family during the past year.

The family will be at the home of Dennis and Leslie Bolin at 115 Bolin Drive, Kings Mountain, NC 28086. Doris will lie in state at the South Chapel of Greene's Funeral

Service and Crematorium on South York Road, Gastonia, NC on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 9:00am to 1:00pm.The family will not be present at the funeral home.

A graveside service for Mrs.Dixon will be held at Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 3:00pm. The service will be officiated by Pastor Libby Sigmon.  Due to Covid-19 the family asks that masks and social distancing are practiced at the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund 251 Olney Church Road Gastonia, NC 28056, Gaston Hospice P O Box 3984 Gastonia, NC 28054, or the charity of the donor's choice will be appreciated.
