Doris Mae Chitwood

Doris Mae Chitwood, 85, of Gastonia, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 8, 2016, at her home.

She was born September 15, 1930, in Gaston County, daughter of the late Clyde Revels and Blanche Robinson Revels.

Doris, a native of Gaston County, loved her family and pets. She attended Friendly Baptist Church in Gastonia.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luke E. Chitwood, Jr.; brothers, William Revels, James Revels; sister, Bobbi Jean Revels; and great grandchild, Morgan Elizabeth Tanner.

Left to cherish her memories are her sons, Luke E. Chitwood III and wife, Mary, Herman Chitwood and wife, Marlane, Gary Chitwood and wife, Libby, Donnie Chitwood and wife, Rita; daughter, Diane Jones and husband, Buddy; brother, Winfred N. Revels; 9 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 10 am on Tuesday at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral service, 1503 South York Rd., Gastonia. Pastor Marshall Owens will be officiating.

The family will receive friends 6-8pm on Monday at the funeral home.

Interment will be held at Gaston Memorial Park.
