Donnie Ruth Liles Medlin Holland

Donnie Ruth Liles Medlin Holland, 89, of Gastonia, passed away January 9, 2018 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.

She was born August 28, 1928 in Roanoke Rapids, NC, the daughter of the late Vernon Webb Liles and Minnie Blanche Liles.

Donnie was a member of East Garrison Baptist Church for over 50 years.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Michael E. Medlin (Brenda), Tim Medlin (Vicki); daughters, Cathie Falls, Linda McDonald (Bob); grandchildren, Donnie Medlin Biggerstaff, Danny Medlin Jr., Christopher, Joshua, Katie and Mary Beth Medlin, Timmy and Tommy Readling, Katie Greenlee, Steve and Brian McDonald; twelve great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren; lifelong bestfriend, Hilda Morgan Olive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Alton Edward Medlin and Richard Holland; son, Danny Harvey Medlin Sr. and wife, Jeanette Medlin, late brothers George and Jesse Lyles, Ollie Liles; sisters Gertrude Atkinson and Katherine Ayscue.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm, Saturday, January 13, 2018 at East Garrison Baptist Church, 1226 E. Garrison Blvd., Gastonia, officiated by the Revs. Charles Ledford and Sam Mintz.

Visitation will be held at 12:30 at the church.

Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park.

Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.

On behalf of Mother, the family extends a special note of gratitude to Carolyn Blanche, Debra Sue, Linda Watson, Bob & Linda McDonald, and her grandson Danny Jr. for the incredible comfort and assistance they offered to Mother in her waning years.  Danny Jr. was a constant in Mother's Life after we lost Richard.  Without him, Mother's life would have been a daily challenge.  There are many angels amongst us each and every day, we list just a few above.
