Donald Sebastian

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald "Sonny" Eli Sebastian, who left us on November 28, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on May 30, 1948, in Wilkes County, North Carolina, Donald was a proud resident of Gastonia for many years.

Donald was more than just a counselor; he was a beacon of hope for many in our community. With a Master's Degree in Counseling, he dedicated his life to helping others navigate their struggles, particularly those dealing with substance abuse. He served as the former director of Serenity Farms in Blowing Rock and was actively involved on the board of the Gaston County Health Department, where his contributions made a lasting impact.

To his family and friends, Donald was known for his warmth and laughter. He had a passion for baseball that was unmatched - a devoted fan of the Baltimore Orioles and a former owner of a baseball card shop. He cherished those moments of connection with his loved ones as they gathered around the TV to cheer for his favorite team.

Donald is survived by his beloved spouse, Rosa Lee Sebastian; daughter, Rosa Marie Sebastian; stepson, Logan Lee Bolding; sisters, Brenda Laney and Jeanette Sneed, all who stood by his side through thick and thin. Together, they created a loving family, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Rudy and Myrtle Sebastian; sister, Susie Burgess; brothers, James Everson, Larry Prevett.

Services to celebrate Donald's life will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service at the same location. Burial will follow at Westview Gardens Cemetery.
