Donald "Donnie" Reece Lovin

Donald "Donnie" Reece Lovin, 61, of Gastonia, passed away July 12, 2015 at his residence. He was born July 28, 1953 in Robbinsville, son of the late Christine Lawhorn and Clyde Lovin, Jr. Donnie was an avid sports fan and loved spending time with his family. He attended Victory and Hunter Huss Schools. He was employed by Cinderella Knits for over 25 years, where he received several commendations. He was currently employed by Kohl's. He loved to work and those he worked with. Left to cherish his memories are his brothers, Joe Lovin and wife Toni of Surfside Beach,SC, Dennis Lovin and wife Robin of Gastonia and Tim Lovin of Naples, FL; sister, Lora "Chickie" Karabatsos and husband, Jim of Gastonia; nieces and nephews, Benjy, Stacey, Christy, Corrie, Lexi and Jacob; nine great-nieces and nephews and his special dog, Bandi. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his niece and nephew, Aundrea and Brent. A memorial service will be held 4 pm on Sunday at New Hope Baptist Church, 2024 Redbud Drive, Gastonia, officiated by Dr. Ned Buckner. The family will receive friends 6 - 8 pm Wednesday at Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cancer Services of Gaston County - 306 S. Columbia Street, Gastonia, NC 28054 or National Multiple Sclerosis Society Greater Carolinas Chapter 9771 Suite A - Southern Pine Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28273.
