Donald McCombs, 74, of Bessemer City, North Carolina, went to be with his heavenly father on November 20, 2018, surrounded by his loving family and church family.
Known by family and friends as "Don", He was a native of Gaston County, North Carolina, born May 26, 1944 to the late John W. and Fannie C. McCombs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Gerald McCombs, Robert McCombs and Wayne McCombs.
Don was proud and honored to be the co-founder of the Dallas Rescue Squad, established in 1974 and remained a charter member. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and a very talented musician. One of Don's greatest joys was being the bass player for the praise and worship band at Christ Worship Center, as well as being a past member of several popular area gospel groups. Don was also well known as Don Mack, a radio disc jockey personality with WKMT in Kings Mountain, NC and later WAAK in Dallas, NC. Only second to his love of the Lord and his family, these were his proudest accomplishments.
