Donald "Don" Baxter Wells, Sr., 81, of Gastonia, died July 17, 2017 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.
He was born October 28, 1935, a native of Gaston County, the son of the late Campbell and Helen Wells. Don was self-employed as Wells Moving and Portable Buildings for 40 years. He was also employed by Jenkins Metal Corporation and Petty Machine Company.
Survivors include: sons, Jerome Wells and wife, Lynn and family, Donnie Wells and family; daughter, Teresa Norman and husband, Larry and family; brothers, Acie Wells, Lacy Wells, Bobby Wells and wife, Pat, Paul Wells, Larry Wells and wife Carolyn; David Wells and wife, June; sisters, Alma Stone, Joyce Hudson and husband, Herman, Virginia Davis; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his late wife, Amelia Wells; brothers, Jimmy and Leroy Wells and sister, Annie Lattimore.
The family will receive friends 6 – 8 pm Thursday at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia.
A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Sandy Bozeman and the Rev. Marshall Owens, will be held 2 pm Friday, July 21, 2017 at Victory Hill Baptist Church, 2300 Philadelphia Church Rd., Dallas, NC 28034.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Belmont.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crisis Pregnancy Center, 700 Robinson Road, Gastonia, NC 28056.
