Diane Downey

Diane Downey, 78, of Bessemer City, NC, passed away July 1, 2024, at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas, NC. She was born November 25, 1945, in Gaston County, NC, to the late Steve Biddix and Margaret Pennington James.

She was a member of First Assembly of God in Gastonia. In addition to Jesus, Diane loved her husband of 57 years. Diane and Butch met at WIX, where they worked together for a couple of years. She cherished spending time with the love of her life. Therefore, you never saw one without the other. She enjoyed listening to Elvis, going to Graceland, dancing, and Godiva Chocolates.  She enjoyed taking trips to the mountains and the beach whenever she had a chance.

Diane is survived by her loving husband, Butch Downey; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her four brothers and two sisters.

A funeral service will be held at the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 3pm officiated by Rev. Mr. Timothy Mueller.

Burial will follow at Westview Gardens in Bessemer City.
