Deloris Sinclair Thompson, age 78, passed away on August 12, 2024 with her family by her side at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas, NC.
Deloris was born on September 13, 1945 in Kannapolis, NC .
She attended A.L. Brown High School and she continued her education at Gaston College.
Deloris was an energetic, fun loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family, her plants, monkeys (because her Dad called her Monkey) and her Pepsi colas! But more than anything, she loved the beach and spending as much time there as possible with Tommy, her husband of 61 years. Her favorite beach spot was at their beach house in Cherry Grove.
She retired from Gaston County Schools after being a teacher's assistant for 38 years.
In her younger years, Deloris attended Calvary Baptist Church in Kannapolis and then after moving to Gastonia in 1966, she became a member of Bradley Memorial Methodist Church.
Preceding her in death are her mother Corrie Sinclair and her father Charles "Red" Sinclair from Kannapolis. She is survived by her husband Tommy Gene Thompson, 2 sons, Nelson Thompson (wife Tracy), and Marc Thompson (wife Jeanne) of Gastonia. Four grandchildren, Samantha Thompson of Tennessee, Cole Thompson of Lake Wylie, Spencer Thompson of Spartanburg and Jacob Thompson of Gastonia.
She has one sister, Virginia Honeycutt and brother in law Clyde Honeycutt of Landis. A special niece Sonya Honeycutt Kiser, and nephew Darren Honeycutt both of Salisbury. There are additional great nieces and nephews.
The family will have a private celebration of her life.
